Dialectical Behavioral Training (DBT) is a therapy or program that was developed by Dr. Marsha
Linehan for those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. However, since DBT works largely from a
base of Cognitive Behavioral Model (CBT therapy) life coaching can assist and support the client in continuing
to practice DBT skills as well as provide education and support toward the client's understanding of how the
basic principles of DBT can be applied in much broader ways in life generally for anyone. Concepts and practice
of Radical Acceptance and Mindfulness Practice are certainly not limited to either DBT or CBT (or therapy) and
are also not limited to those diagnosed with BPD. They have much wider and very effective application in daily
life for anyone interested in enhancing their over-all coping skills and anyone who would identify a need to
relax more, slow down worry or troubling negative thoughts, improve the quality of their sleep and so forth.
